Two Rivers Medical Centre
Maternity
Our District Midwives co-ordinate maternity care in the practice. If you have a positive home pregnancy test, please ask at reception for a Pregnancy Information Pack and make a first visit appointment. She can arrange referral to the hospital when necessary. Your antenatal and postnatal care will be shared between the midwife and your own doctor.
Ladies hoping to conceive, or in early pregnancy, are advised to obtain folic acid and vitamin D supplements from a pharmacy.
Child Health & Immunisation
We recommend full immunisation for all pre-school children, commencing at 2 months. The Child Health Development based in Ipswich sends out appointments. Please let our own reception know if you are unable to attend. Your health visitors offer developmental and health checks for infants and children, and will refer you to your doctor when relevant.
Women’s Health
Most women aged between 25 and 64 should have a cervical smear taken every 3-5 years. This is to detect any changes in the cells of the cervix which might lead to the development of cancer. Early detection can prevent this happening. You will receive a reminder but please contact us if you think your recall is overdue.
We do have clinicians trained in family planning if you would like to discuss your options.
Sexual Health for Young People
We are committed to reducing teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, and as part of a local initiative, our doctors and nurses are able to provide free condoms to under 23s. A Chlaymdia Screening Service is available to anyone aged 24 and under - please request a self-testing kit at the surgery - it is a fully CONFIDENTIAL service.

Health Promotion – Disease Management
All new patients are routinely offered a health check appointment.
If you suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or asthma, you will be offered ongoing care with your usual doctor or by our nurses.
Smoking Cessation
Our Practice Nurses or our Health Care Assistant, offer support to anyone wishing to give up smoking. We also have a trained smoking cessation advisor from OneLife Suffolk available. Please contact reception to make an appointment.
Minor Surgery
Some minor surgical procedures can be undertaken at the surgery. Your usual doctor can discuss this with you when relevant.
